MEMORABLE MOMENT: Erickson, Cohen wedding

Carley Erickson and Jordan Cohen, both of Newport, R.I., were married July 16 in Trinity Lutheran Church in Duluth.

Her parents are Steven and Dianna Erickson of Duluth. His parents are Elizabeth Cohen of Duluth and the late Howard Cohen.

The bride chose Julie Myran as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Holly Rosendahl, Katie Ebbers, Laura DeFranco, Sarah Erickson and Rachael Weir. Maria Miranda was flower girl.

The groom chose his brother, Michael Cohen, as best man. Groomsmen were Dylan Erickson, Ian Erickson, Kevin Hinds, Karl Anderson and Ehren Bittner.

The bride, a 2002 graduate of Duluth East High School, graduated from Winona (Minn.) State University in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in teaching. She is a teacher for Newport public schools.

The groom, a 2000 graduate of Duluth East High School, graduated from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in Minneapolis in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in history and from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif., in 2010 with a master's degree in systems engineering and analysis. He joined the Navy in 2004 and is the prospective weapons officer for the Pearl Harbor (Hawaii)-based guided missile destroyer USS O'KANE (DDG 77).


Blessed day

Due to operational scheduling, this was the only day out of the whole year we were able to be married while also visiting our hometown. It turned out that we were blessed with the perfect day thanks to the support and thoughtfulness of our family, our friends and even the weather!
