Dec. 28, 1971 Ninety-six percent of the available space in the new Miller Hill Mall now under construction has been either leased or is committed, officials said yesterday. When completed in the summer of 1973, the mall will feature about 50 retail stores. A study of the feasibility of year-round schools in Duluth is being completed by Eugene Lynch, assistant superintendent for instruction for Duluth schools. Lynch said yesterday the idea wouldn’t save money but might improve the quality of education.
Dec. 28, 1991 The nonprofit group that owns Duluth’s Norshor Theater has received a $300,000 grant from the McKnight Foundation of Minneapolis. The funding will go toward the $750,000 needed to renovate the art deco theater into a two-stage facility. Doctors from the Community Health Center in Two Harbors will temporarily staff the Silver Bay Clinic when Dr. Thomas Clifford of Silver Bay retires this week. Two Duluth doctors plan to take over the Silver Bay practice permanently in the fall.
