The Duluth League of Women Voters enjoyed a holiday social at the historic home of member Printha Markert on Dec. 8. The Duluth League of Women Voters has about 160 members. One issue they are currently researching and educating the public about includes the Duluth infrastructure.
On March 7, 2012 an event called “Women Rising Up for Peace and Justice: Mighty Be Our Powers” is planned, to celebrate International Women’s Day. On that date the League, along with other organizations, is sponsoring Nobel Peace Prize winner Leymah Gbowee for her work in peace in Liberia.
The League encourages book clubs to read Leymah Gbowee’s book, “Mighty Be Our Powers” in preparation for her visit. For more information on the League of Women Voters visit: www.lwvduluth.org
