Robert F. Claveau, 86, of Hermantown, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, in Edgewood Vista.
Robert Fred Claveau was born Sept. 6, 1925, in Duluth, the son of Fred and Marie (Paulson) Claveau. He attended Denfeld High School in Duluth. He was a bomber crewmember in the Army 8th Air Force in England and then with the 7th Rescue Squadron in Pearl Harbor.
He married Virginia Jones in 1948 in Duluth. He started his career selling school buses and heavy equipment which he did until retiring in 1990 from United Truck Body.
Robert was a member of French River Lutheran Church, the American Legion, and the Lions Club.
Robert enjoyed boating, skiing, remote control airplanes, and most of all, spending time with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father Byer “Pat” Olson; and son David Claveau in 2002.
Robert is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginnie”; son Bruce Claveau of Braidwood, Ill.; daughter Linda (Jim) Leindecker of Green Bay, Wis.; and grandson Darren Leindecker of Green Bay.
VISITATION: 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, Dec. 12, in French River Lutheran Church, 5310 Ryan Road, Duluth.
Burial at Palmer’s Lakeview Cemetery, Duluth Township. Military Honors by the Duluth Combined Honor Guard. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home (218) 727-3555.
