Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire and former Twins catcher Terry Steinbach are hosts for the 12th Black Woods Blizzard Tour snowmobile ride, a three-day, 400-mile ride through Northeastern Minnesota that runs Thursday through Saturday.
Last year’s event raised $503,000 to fight ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, a disease that affects more than 30,000 people in the U.S. Steinbach lost his father to ALS in 1999, as did former Twins star Kent Hrbek, who will take part in the ride with current Twins hitting coach Joe Vavra.
A total of 178 snowmobilers, all collecting a minimum of $1,200 in donations, will participate. The event ends Saturday night with a dinner at the Greysolon Ballroom in Duluth.
