Goalie Alex Stalock got 16 minutes of playing time in Wednesday’s opening NHL preseason game for the San Jose Sharks in a 5-2 loss at Anaheim. Antero Nittymaki, after four days of training camp, was shaky, allowing four goals as the starter. Stalock, with the American Hockey League’s Worcester (Mass.) Sharks last season, allowed one goal on six shots. San Jose outshot Anaheim 40-18. A story from the San Jose Mercury News is here.

Dean Blais has former St. Scholastica goalie Corey Wogtech working with Nebraska-Omaha goalies this season as a volunteer coach. Wogtech played on a limited basis (23 games) with the Saints in 2003-05. A Omaha World-Herald post is here.
Former Minnesota Duluth women’s assistant coach Michelle McAteer, now head coach at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, has completed her coaching staff, hiring two former Western Collegiate Hockey Association players. The release from Augsburg is here.
