Rink and Run blog: Tickets, DECC, Amsoil Arena, Hobey

By: Kevin Pates, Duluth News Tribune

A Minnesota Duluth season ticket sales push is underway with print and radio ads running the past few weeks. Full season, and Friday only and Saturday only packages are available through Sept. 30. Packages include games in the DECC and new Amsoil Arena. Single-game tickets for games at the DECC go on sale Oct. 1. Single-game tickets for games at Amsoil Arena (which opens Dec. 30 versus North Dakota) go on sale Dec. 1. Tickets can be reserved at the UMD athletic ticket office (218) 726-8595. More information is on the UMD website here.

There are eight games at the DECC — versus Providence, Alaska Anchorage, Michigan Tech and Denver. There are nine games at Amsoil Arena — versus North Dakota (one game), Wisconsin, Minnesota, St. Cloud State and Nebraska-Omaha.

The UMD men’s and women’s teams will be on the DECC ice starting Sept. 20 — captain’s practice for the men and official start of practice for the women.

DECC officials indicate that Amsoil Arena is expected to be officially finished Nov. 8 and UMD teams will start making a move into the building by Thanksgiving and have a chance to skate on the new ice sheet by Dec. 6.

All of the seats in the lower bowl of the new rink, along with the scoreboard, have been installed.

The Too Many Men on the Site blog takes a look this week at five serious Hobey Baker Memorial Award hopefuls for 2010-11. See which UMD player is listed here.
