Big changes are coming to AreaVoices.com
On Tuesday AreaVoices.com will undergo a major upgrade.
We are pleased to announce that on Tuesday AreaVoices.com will undergo a major upgrade.
We’re switching to the WordPress blogging software. This will give myriad new options and dozens of gorgeous themes to customize your blog.
Change is good.
The world of blogging has changed dramatically since we created AreaVoices.com. This upgrade will keep AreaVoices on pace from here on out. No more waiting.
With this upgrade, you’ll notice some changes. Every user will have a subdomain of the areavoices site. For example, areavoices.com/bisonmedia will become bisonmedia.areavoices.com. This change and others will help bring in more search traffic to your site while giving you a more well-defined corner within the AreaVoices site.
Simple. Stable. Social.
The WordPress software adds new features for writing, makes uploading photos easy and better allows for embedding YouTube and other videos. It features an up-to-the-minute stats system, telling you how many people read your posts and what search terms they use to find your blog. It will also alert you to any links to your site.
WordPress is used by large corporations and small bloggers alike. It’s fast and stable and it’s supported by hundreds of thousands of programmers and bloggers worldwide.
AreaVoices.com is a community and we’ll be adding features with this upgrade to allow you to follow conversations and posts from across the site. We’ll also better integrate your posts with our news websites, giving you potentially a significantly larger audience.
Pick up where you left off.
We’re currently in the process of migrating your old posts to this new platform. There’s nothing special you’ll need to do on your end. When we’re ready to launch, you’ll need to log into the site once more to see the new admin.
When you first see the new admin, you may need to get your bearings, so feel free to read up on how WordPress works or send us an email at support@areavoices.com if you have questions.
If you'd like your current blog to be linked with an account you've already set up with Topics.AreaVoices.com we can do that for you. Send us an email from the address registered with your AreaVoices blog. In that email include your blog name and your Topics.Areavoices username and email address.
You will also have the ability to change the URL of your blog at this time. For example, if your current blog is AreaVoices.com/stargazer, it would automatically update to stargazer.AreaVoices.com. However, if you'd like to change it to LookinAtStars.AreaVoices.com let us know in the email you send and we'll update it for you. You can reply directly to this email or send us a message at support@fccinteractive.com.
