Good tunes, great eats

Lester Park United Methodist Church, 5401 E. Superior St., will host a free-and-open-to-the-public summer concert series and barbecue at 6 p.m. every Wednesday in July. Come enjoy food, local bands and performers in the outdoor beauty of the summer evening. (Advance notice: The church will also host a barbecue celebrating National Night Out at 6 p.m. Aug. 3.)

‘Walk’ with a prophet Tuesday

A workshop on the journey of Thomas Merton, Trappist monk, teacher and prophet, will be held from 8:45 a.m. to noon Tuesday at St. Scholastica Monastery, 1001 Kenwood Ave. RSVP by calling 723-6555 or e-mailing pauline.m@duluthosb.org.

It’s a miracle!

First Love Full Gospel Church, 410 N. 78th Ave. W., will host healing miracle services at 7 p.m. June 25-27. Call 628-3084.

Something old, something new

Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1505 Ecklund Ave., will host an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 26. Stop in for refreshments and to see the church’s new addition.

Dinosaur VBS

The Vacation Bible School “Truerassic Park” will be presented by Duluth Gospel Tabernacle, 1515 W. Superior St., from 9:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 28-July 1. There will be stories, songs, skits, games, prizes, snacks and dinosaurs for kids ages 4 to grade eight. Additionally, there will be a VBS carnival, which everyone is invited to, at 6 p.m. Thursday. Brighton Beach

Lester Park United Methodist Church will host worship services by the lake every Sunday at 8 a.m. through Labor Day at the Pavilion on Brighton Beach in Kitchi Gammi Park.

Third Wednesdays

On the third Wednesday of each month, Concordia Lutheran Church is hosting a community event called “Food, Fellowship and Fun.” The event begins with a summer meal at 6 p.m. for a donation of $3/person ($12 family maximum). Following the meal, participants are invited to join in a variety of activities, including soccer, crafts, games and a time of fellowship. There will be offerings for all ages and abilities regardless of the weather. Join Concordia for an evening of summer fellowship. Please call the church office at 728-4229 with any questions.
