Lindsay Lohan will have to answer more questions about a 2007 car chase that landed her in jail, including inquiries about drug use at the time, a judge ruled on Thursday.
Lindsay Lohan will have to answer more questions about a 2007 car chase that landed her in jail, including inquiries about drug use at the time, a judge ruled on Thursday.
Lohan’s answers will be used in a civil lawsuit filed against the actress by a woman who claims she suffered emotional distress after the incident, which prompted a criminal case.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Richard A. Stone ordered Lohan to sit for a two-hour deposition next month. The judge approved a request by Lohan’s attorney to allow the questioning to happen after July 6, when a criminal judge will decide whether Lohan violated her probation by missing a court hearing in May.
Lohan was charged with seven misdemeanors stemming from her arrest after the chase.

A ruling is expected in August.
‘The Bachelor’ is a bachelor again
Jake Pavelka and Vienna Giraldi, the lovey-dovey couple who met and became engaged in front of millions of viewers on the 14th season of the ABC dating series, have called off their engagement, according to Pavelka’s spokeswoman.
Janice Lee said “Jake and Vienna have split. They appreciate the respect for their privacy at this time.” No additional details were provided.
After choosing 23-year-old marketing representative Giraldi on “The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love,” 32-year-old pilot Pavelka competed on the 10th season of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” and was eliminated fifth from the competition.
Only four of the 13 previous couples who met on “The Bachelor” are still together.
Jackson’s mom supports fan tribute
Michael Jackson’s mother has given her blessing to a tribute planned to her late son a year after his death at age 50.
In a video posted on YouTube, Katherine Jackson thanks people for the support they have given her family since Jackson died June 25, 2009.
She also thanked Voice Plate Productions for staging the fan event, which will be Saturday at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif.
Jackson’s mother says her son would be “very honored and very pleased that his fans all over the world are coming together to celebrate his life.”
Tickets for the event start at $150 and go up to $500.
Jericho plays it safe on ‘Downfall’
Pro wrestler Chris Jericho is willing to take hits in the ring but will be playing it safe as host of ABC’s new game show “Downfall,” which debuts tonight.
“Downfall” is staged atop a 10-story downtown Los Angeles building, with contestants vying for prizes and up to $1 million cash by taking a trivia quiz. Players face the risk of being pushed off the roof — strapped into a decelerator harness — if they lose.
Jericho is on the rooftop, too, but tethered to a platform to avoid an unexpected trip.
“It’s scary when you get up there and stand on the edge,” Jericho said. “That’s the reason I’m the host. I don’t ever have to go over the edge — unless the show gets canceled, in which case I’m the first one that gets thrown over.”
Jericho’s sense of humor has been on display elsewhere, including regular appearances on VH1 and E! and as guest host on shows including “The Best Damn Sports Show Period” and “MadTV.”
He draws parallels between his World Wrestling Entertainment experience and “Downfall” beyond their show business elements.
“They’re both high-intensity, energetic games,” Jericho said. “You’re putting something on the line.”
Besides the suspense, he said, “Downfall” is also an “amazing spectacle.”
The show’s setup includes a huge conveyer belt that sends replicas of prizes, up to and including cars, as well as contestants’ personal mementos crashing to the street.
“As a kid, you want to stand and drop eggs or GI Joes off the building and see if they fall apart. That’s the primal instinct that makes the show so interesting,” Jericho said.
Attorney says Johnston’s sister’s blog won’t have access to client
Levi Johnston’s attorney is taking exception to a blog kept by his client’s sister, Mercede.
Rex Butler says that while Mercede Johnston is free to write what she wants, she won’t be privy to information from anyone with “Team Levi.” And Butler said Levi’s team isn’t sharing information with her about his plans, movements or other actions.
Mercede Johnston couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
Her blog has gotten widespread attention of late, purporting to answer questions about Sarah Palin’s family and her own.
Levi Johnston and Palin’s oldest daughter, Bristol, have a son together. Last week, Johnston’s manager said the two were spending more time together for the child’s sake but were not a couple.

The Gene Siskel Film Center in Chicago has honored actor Robert Downey Jr. with its Renaissance Award.
The Academy Award-nominated actor was in Chicago on Saturday to accept the award. The center says it chose to honor the 45-year-old Downey because he is “one of the most respected and versatile actors of his generation.”
Downey gave an interview to director Todd Phillips, saying three of his movies are the “most representative” of his work, “Tropic Thunder,” “Sherlock Holmes” and “Iron Man.” He won a Golden Globe for “Sherlock Holmes.”
The actor also says he’s moved on from drug and alcohol abuse.
Downey is to star in the Phillips-directed movie “Due Date” as a first-time dad trying to make it home in time for the birth of his baby.
Jackson’s children will return to school
LONDON — Michael Jackson’s mother, Katherine, is quoted as saying that the late pop star’s children will attend school for the first time later this year.
The 80-year-old told Britain’s Mail on Sunday tabloid that Jackson’s three children — Prince, 13, Paris, 12, and Blanket, 8 — have had private lessons up until now.
The paper quoted Katherine Jackson as saying that the children would go to an unidentified private school starting in September.
The children have been in their grandmother’s care since the singer died in June.
