Cloquet defeated Hermantown in a pair of games Thursday afternoon to capture the Section 7AA baseball title at Wade Stadium. Cloquet won the opener 2-0 to force a deciding game, and then edged Hermantown 7-6 in the final of the double-elimination tournament. Cloquet is 20-7 and Hermantown 18-8. Cloquet will be making its first state tournament appearance since 1975.
In Section 7AAA, Grand Rapids eliminated Duluth East 5-3 Thursday afternoon in Forest Lake, Minn. Grand Rapids then defeated top seed Forest Lake 2-0, setting up a title game Friday between Forest Lake (15-9) and Grand Rapids (16-9).
