Work still to be done at Playfront

The playground’s grand opening will be June 4 from 4-6 p.m.

There’s still work to be done on the new Playfront Park before it’s ready for the grand opening on June 4.

Teams of volunteers organized by the Junior League of Duluth finished assembling most of the new playground at Bayfront Festival Park over the weekend.

Before the June 4 grand opening, the city of Duluth will install a poured rubber surface and swings. Volunteers will build a shade structure on a concrete pad in the center of the playground, according to Nancy Wolfe, public relations chairwoman for the Junior League.

Individual volunteers from the community were joined by teams from US Bank, Home Depot and the University of Minnesota Duluth, Wolfe said in a news release. In addition, other businesses donated food and products.
