Superior comes back for ninth straight win

The Superior Spartans struck down the Duluth Denfeld Hunters 11-9 on May 4 at Wade Stadium in Duluth.

The Superior Spartans struck down the Duluth Denfeld Hunters 11-9 on May 4 at Wade Stadium in Duluth. With the win the Spartans earned their ninth straight win and improve to 9-1 on the season.

Denfeld was winning 9-7 coming into the seventh and final inning. But the Spartans pulled it out in the last inning by scoring four unanswered runs to claim the win.

Senior Kellen McCoshen and junior Rob Dembroski led the Spartans with three hits on the night, including McCoshen’s two triples. Junior Taylor Olson contributed with a double and a single.

Superior picks up on Thursday at UMD against Duluth Marshall at 4:30 p.m. They will play again on Saturday in a double header against Chippewa Falls in Superior at 11:00 a.m.
