New canoe/kayak race at Gordon

The first annual Go With the Flowage canoe race will be held May 22 on the Gordon-St Croix Flowage near Gordon. Race starts at 10 a.m. Course is 16 miles for racing classes and six miles for recreational classes.

Entry fee is $30 for tandem teams and $20 for solo entries.

Five race categories, plus untimed sightseeing class: Racing Tandem Canoe, Racing Solo Canoe, Racing Solo Kayak, Rec Tandem Canoe or Kayak, Rec Solo Canoe or Kayak, and untimed, informal sightseeing class.

Although the Flowage is a fairly large body of water, most of the course will be in sheltered bays and channels. Paddlers in the racing classes will also travel upstream to the Gordon Ranger Station before returning to the Flowage
