Song of the Week VIII: The Devil Makes Three’s ‘All Hail’

Each week I not-so-subtly suggest a song you should know by heart. For this very special eighth edition, I chose “All Hail,” an acoustic-based, punk-infused slab of awesomeness from the Santa Cruz, Calif., bluegrass trio the Devil Makes Three.

I was fortunate enough to catch these guys live last Sunday — when they opened for Duluth’s Trampled by Turtles at Madison’s High Noon Saloon — and I can honestly say that my faith in the entire business of making music was fervently renewed. Their set, while “Americana” in nature, was every bit as pleasantly blistering as one of the many notoriously high-octane musicmakers out there, like the Reverend Horton Heat (or Trampled at their foot-stompin’ finest).

Anyway, I hope you enjoy what you hear, and I urge you to check out more songs from this group over at www.thedevilmakesthree.com. And, if you have a couple more spare minutes, I also highly recommend the solo works of the Devil Makes Three’s frontman, Pete Bernhard.
