Robin Hansen of Duluth was the recipient of the Minnesota State Patrol’s “Saved by the Belt” award stemming from a personal injury crash she was involved in on March 31, 2009. The crash occurred on I-35 about a mile south of Boundary Avenue.
Hansen was the driver of a 2008 Honda which was southbound on I-35 in a snowstorm. A northbound Ford EC2 van lost control, slid across the median and struck Hansen’s vehicle. Hansen was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Lt. Quint Stainbrook of the Minnesota State Patrol investigated the crash and stated, “Hansen was fortunate to survive this crash. If it were not for the fact she was wearing a seat belt, the outcome would probably have been different.”
Lt. Stainbrook nominated Robin Hansen for the award and presented it to her last week.
