Alvin W. Ollenburger Ph.D., passed away on March 16, 2010, at his home in Desert Hot Springs, Calif.

Alvin was born on Dec. 18, 1926 to William and Eva Ollenburger in Wilton, N.D.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II.
Alvin graduated from Moorhead State Teacher's College and the University of North Dakota and went on to be a teacher, principal and superintendent in several school districts in North Dakota. Alvin had higher aspirations and earned his Ph. D. at the University of Michigan. He moved his family to Duluth, in 1964 and had a distinguished career in teaching and administration at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. Alvin retired in 1993 as the Dean of the College of Education at UMD.
Alvin is survived by his wife and best friend of 32 years, Sharon, Desert Hot Springs, Calif.; sister, Mary Neumann, Las Vegas, Nev.; sons, Terry (Iris), Lacey, Wash., Monte (Tracey), St. Anthony, Minn.; daughters, Audrey (Larry) Schubarth, Colorado Springs, Colo., Jane Ollenburger, Pomona, Calif.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
INURNMENT: will be at the Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, Calif.
