MARGARET L. (MCGARRITY) HAYDEN

Margaret L. (McGarrity) Hayden, 98, of Duluth, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at St. Mary's Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 16, 1912 in Proctor, Minn., to Joseph and Salma (Erickson) McGarrity.

She graduated

from Chisholm High School and graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Mary's Hospital. Margaret was a member and volunteer of the Duluth Chapter of United Ostomy Association. As a loyal Minnesota Twins fan, Margaret enjoyed listening to Dick Bremer and Bert Blyleven's play-by-play and commentaries of the game. It was her wish to use this vehicle to thank them for their entertainment. Throughout Margaret's life, music was her passion, piano her favorite.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clement "Clem"; parents; and brothers, Kenneth and Bertram McGarrity.

Margaret is survived by her children, Greg Hayden of Vista, Calif., Kay (John) Marciniak, Peg Hayden of Duluth, Jim (Jennifer) Hayden of Calabasas, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Susan Hayden of Menlo Park, Calif.; grandchildren, Kris (Dennis Feigler) Marciniak, David Marciniak, Karen Pavich, Sarah (Jonas) Heinzerling, Kelly Hayden; great-grandchildren, Johanna, Jacob, Emily, Ellie Marciniak and Flynn Heinzerling.

We express our gratitude to the staff on Spruce and Birch Lane of Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center and SMDC Hospice staff for their kind and compassionate care of our Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, and a special thanks to Margaret's angel, Patty.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 11 a.m. Tuesday with a visitation one hour prior to the Mass all in the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E. 2nd St. Duluth, MN 55805, 218-727-3555.
