Pay-per-view porn? Not for Minnesota state employees

ST. PAUL — Minnesota government employees traveling for work may be forced to check out a hotel’s channel guide before checking in — and stay away if pay-per-view porn is offered.
A bill slated for a House committee Wednesday would prevent state workers from booking at in-state hotels or meeting facilities that provide their customers with pornographic materials on demand because many link sex with violence. The companion legislation has been moving through the Senate.
Adult movies on cable channels would be OK.
The bill excuses employees who can’t find or afford a porn-free hotel.
Anti-porn groups say Minnesota is at the front of a movement for “clean hotels.”
But the American Hotel and Lodging Association says porn is an amenity that visitors should have the choice to use.
