“Worlds Apart,” two one-act plays written and directed by Carly Feroe, will be staged for free at 7:30 p.m. at the Play Ground. (Mature subject matter.)

The Suzuki Talent Education Program will present its spring concert at 3 p.m. at UMD’s Weber Music Hall. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Monday, March 15

A question-and-answer presentation about Crohn’s disease and ulcerative

colitis will be held at 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Hospital (in the Ontario Room). Call 729-7867.

Community Action Duluth, 19 N. 21st Ave. W., prepares and e-files tax returns Monday and Wednesday evenings for those with dependents, senior citizens and people with disabilities. Call 726-1665 to set up an appointment. Additionally, walk-in tax service (for households with less than $49,000 in income) is available at 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays and at 8:45 a.m. Saturdays.

The Monday Adult Skaters (Ladies Recreational Club) have an open skate in the DECC Arena from 11 a.m. to noon. Price is $3 per session and parking passes for the season (which runs through March) are available for $5. Sessions open to all adult skaters. Call 724-2285 for more. Bring your own skates.

Chip Cravaack is holding a fundraiser from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Mr. D’s in West Duluth. Cravaack is seeking endorsement as the Republican candidate for the Eighth Congressional District in Minnesota. Tickets are $20 purchased at the door or in advance.

Tuesday, March 16

Hamlin Music Academy, 5615 Grand Ave., will host its annual spring recital at 2 p.m. Free.

Fishing pro Mike Delvisco will visit Texas Roadhouse from 6 to 8 p.m. Get his autograph or just ask a few questions about angling.

Observe Tweed Museum of Art staff and UMD interns conduct extensive inventory and assessment of TMA’s collection from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. This is a weekly free event.

The Score Bar hosts salsa dancing every Tuesday night. Free dance lessons kick off the night from 7 to 8, followed by open dancing until midnight.

The Maxi Childs Trio performs at 7 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Black Water Lounge, 231 E. Superior St.

A free antique appraisal, featuring Dan Sershon of Northland Estate Services, will be held from noon to 3 p.m. at the Depot (in the Rotunda). Bring up to two items.

The Lake Superior Business Expo will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the DECC. Keynote speakers include Al Lautenslager, co-author of “Guerrilla Marketing in 30 Days” and Innovations in Quality’s Jeffrey Thompson. McInnis’ Kitchen will play at Sunset Bar & Grill’s free St. Patrick’s Day celebration, which will be held from 6 to 10 p.m.

The United Way of Greater Duluth is collecting bikes for a swap in April. Drop off any unused bicycles at OnSite Professional Cleaning, 4410 Grand Ave. (near Denfeld), between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. through March 31.

The Red Star nightclub at Fitger’s hosts salsa lessons from 7 to 9 p.m. every Wednesday. Tickets are $5, but they are good for $5 off any drink.

The Harbor City Roller Dames will take on the Fargo-Moorhead Derby Girls at 7 p.m. at the DECC’s Pioneer Hall. Cost is $10 for adults, free for kids 10 and younger.

Exhibits

“The Atomic Edge: Design in Print Imagery, 1940s-1960s” will be on display through Sunday, March 14, at UMD’s Tweed Museum of Art. Free.

The Duluth Art Institute’s annual membership show is on display through Sunday, March 14, in the Great Hall of the Depot.

“Bloom Under the Snow,” which features artwork from members of the Arrowhead Alliance of Artists with Disabilities, will be on display through Monday at UMD’s Multicultural Center.

“All Fired Up: The Ceramic Arts in Minnesota” will be on display through March 28 at the Depot’s John Steffl Gallery.

DBU’s Graphic Design Club will host the “RVLD: Revealed” exhibit through April 16 at Lizzard’s Art Gallery & Framing, 11 W. Superior St. (An opening reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.)

James Bond, Sherlock Holmes and Dorothy Sayers are the subject of the Karpeles Manuscript Library’s latest exhibit, “The Detective, the Detective Scholar and the Spy,” which you’ll be able to peruse through April 30 at 902 E. First St.

“Fresh, New and True,” work by 12 emerging Northland artists (including Brit Salmela), will be on display through May 14 at the Duluth Art Institute’s George Morrison Gallery in the Depot.

“Ripple Effect,” work by Sarah Brokke and some of her students, will be on display through May 14 at the Duluth Art Institute’s John Steffl Gallery in the Depot.

“Oulu Glass: A Family of Artisans,” work by the Vojacek family, will be on display through May 30 at the Duluth Art Institute’s Fesler Gallery in the Depot.

“Form & Surface: Selections from the Glenn C. Nelson Collection” will be on display through Nov. 7 at UMD’s Tweed Museum of Art.

The free Veterans’ Memorial Hall exhibit “Generations of Service,” which spans roughly 150 years of military service and includes locally donated artifacts, is now open at the Depot. See www.vets-hall.org.
