Smoking near a Duluth bus shelter will be against the law as of Sunday.
Duluth’s new ordinance prohibiting smoking inside or within 15 feet of a bus shelter applies to all city shelters and transit hubs. Those include the downtown transit center, the Holiday Center, the Miller Hill Mall’s transit lobby and University of Minnesota Duluth and Lake Superior College hubs, where smoking is banned already.
Violators could receive up to a $1,000 fine. Duluth is the first city to enact such a ban.
