On February 16, four high school students traveled to Northwestern High School for FCCLA regional competition. The two teams of two students gave presentations on projects they had accomplished during the year. The students spent a lot of time working on poster boards and speeches.

“I don’t know how long Alyssa stayed after school to work on it, but I was at school until 7:30 almost eight o’clock the day before competition, and then it took us two hours the next day with final touches and practicing our speech,” Alexis Apostolellis, an FCCLA member and SHS student, said.

The teams needed a score of ninety to one hundred points. The score range fell in the gold category, which allowed them to move on to state. They were judged on their speech, how they were dressed, and their use of a planning process designed by FCCLA.

Alexis Apostolellis and Alyssa Amotozio along with Katherine Hoyt and Jennifer Covill advanced to the FCCLA state competition in Wisconsin Dells this year with scores of over ninety points. State competition is held April 6-8 this year.
