Blog Bot: Progress in Motion

By: Chris Baldwin, East High School

In the past three weeks our team is moving along at a very fast pace. Everybody has been working after school non-stop. We have had some members who did leave for their reasons. Marketing has obtained fundraiser money and has been going through countless papers. Programming department is working on several projects. The electronics department (wiring) is finally being used, I will be able to put the electronics board together. The build department got our frame together in preparation for the electronics board and they are done with our attachment.

On January 29, my team and I composed a test run with the robot, keeping in mind that the electronics could tip over at any time. The new robot’s speed was incredible and it almost made a leap over the hump. Still, other items need to go on that are just as important as the first attachment. We already have been able to move the soccer ball a fair distance on February 1. On February 3, we got the electronics board into a transitional phase, all we need now are wires.

My team and I can expect to finish the robot within the next week or by this weekend it will be able to move, so we are very excited about that. We have received important parts to help the building process . I can’t say too much about our design, but it is coming along with great timing.

The progress this year is definitely something compared to a year ago. Last year we were tight on time and money and this year we got tools and supplies.

On February 5, Saturday from 12:00am to about 2:00pm at the Miller Hill Mall my team and I will be demonstrating last years robot with our new robot. We will tell people about what we do and what we have done and try to gain some support or small funds.
