Spartan cheer and dance teams head to state competitions

The cheer and dance teams both won regional championships during the last weekend of January.
The cheer team competed in Wisconsin Rapids. They placed third in their stunting routine and tied for first with Oconto Falls in their dancing routine. Only the top three teams in each category advanced to state on February 13 in Green Bay.
The dance team competed in Eau Claire and placed first in kick out of four teams and second in jazz out of ten teams. The first three teams in kick advanced and the first five teams in jazz advanced to state on February 6 in La Crosse.
Both teams performed their routines during the Snow Week assembly on Friday, February 6, and received a state send-off presented by Activities Director Ray Kosey.
At state, the dance team placed second in their kick routine and ninth in their jazz routine. The cheer team placed fourth in their small stunting routine and seventh in their cheer dance routine.
There was a presentation of the runner-up trophy to the dance team on February 12 during the halftime of the boy’s basketball game that night.
