Budgeteer Letters to the Editor - Nov. 8, 2009
What's on our readers' minds this week?
In favor of ‘adults-only’ skating
Abel Gustafson wrote in the Budgeteer (Nov. 1, 2009) that Wednesday night skating at the Duluth Heritage Sports Center takes on an “amiable atmosphere.” It does not.
Twice I’ve gone there on a Wednesday night and twice I’ve been knocked to the ice from behind. Fortunately, no bones were broken, but I was sore for weeks afterward.
It’s the 7-year-olds that Gustafson writes about who “zoom up” and want to “tackle” him who are causing problems. They simply don’t watch where they are going. (This is from someone who skates around the edges of the arena.) It would be great if the Heritage Center would consider an “adults-only” session one evening a week.

Sexual orientation is an issue
Why does Anna Tennis (guest columnist, Oct. 25 Budgeteer) think it is wrong to ask people running for government office what their sexual orientation is?
Government officials get to vote on gay “marriages,” after all. Every city that said gay marriage is OK was voted on by some government official. Not the people.
[Those practicing a homosexual lifestyle] don’t seem to care when they parade down the streets, take over the public parks, divide our churches, disrupt mass in the Catholic church, etc.
If they want to keep their private life private — as they should — let them do that all the time, not just when they want to run for public office.
This is getting to be such a godless world, thanks to the ACLU. We kill our babies, fight wars, young and old are cohabitating, gay marriages, etc. They know in God’s law they are not married. God’s laws have been around long before man’s, and God’s laws will never change.
We are being sent all kinds of warnings and no one is paying any attention. We are having bad fires, floods, mud slides, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc.
We have mad cows, pigs, birds, wood ticks, mosquitoes — all causing physical problems I had never heard of 10 years ago. It’s about time all Christians come together to vote for people who have their same values.
