Les and Lila Lillis Anniversary

Les and Lila Lillis of Silver Bay celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Oct. 25, 2009 with an open house in the United Protestant Church in Silver Bay.

Les and the former Lila Whitney were married Oct. 23, 1949.

Their children are Randy Lillis, Rex and Jan Lillis, Roxy Lillis, Gwynne Ness, Kyla and Kent Hostetler all of Silver Bay and Tammy and Leroy Moe of Two Harbors. They have 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Les is retired from Reserve Mining in Silver Bay. Lila is retired from the Minnesota Veterans Home in Silver Bay.

Secrets of Staying Married: When asked, our Mom said she felt the secret to a long marriage was "trust", you have to have trust. If you don't have trust you don't have anything. Our Dad has said time and time again, it is getting married on your birthday, so you don't forget your anniversary; he turned 91 the same day.
