Suspected hit-and-run vehicle found

Police found the black 2006 Honda CRV as a result of tips received since 18-year-old Alexander Balluff was critically injured Saturday.

Police could be a step closer to finding a driver who fled the scene after hitting and critically injuring an 18-year-old Duluth visitor on Rice Lake Road.

They say they have located the vehicle they believe struck Alexander Balluff early Saturday morning.

Balluff, of Oak Grove, Minn., was walking south on the shoulder of Rice Lake Road with three friends when he was struck by a small black sports utility vehicle in the 2200 block. The driver did not stop and left the scene of the accident, headed south.

Balluff was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition in the intensive care unit today.

Police found the black 2006 Honda CRV as a result of tips it received after putting out a call for help from the public.

The investigation continues, and police request that anyone with knowledge of the collision call Crash Investigator Ryan Morris at (218) 730-5655.
