MARY (NIVALA) MCALLISTER

Mary (Nivala) McAllister, 95, of Cromwell, passed away Monday, June 22, 2009 in Villa Vista Care Center.

She was born in Wright, Minn., on Aug. 20, 1913 to Robert and Anna (Maki) Nivala.

Mary had attended school in Cromwell and went on to be employed as a secretary with North Shore Bank of Commerce. In the early 1950's, Mary moved to Florida, where she made her home for nearly 50 years. On April 17, 1961, she married Carroll "Mac" McAllister in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Mary was a member of the Seventh- Day Adventist Church while living in Pompano Beach, Fla. Following the death of her husband, Mary moved back to Wright and lived with her sister, Hilda.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mac; brother, Gust Nivala and sister, Helen Albertson.

Survivors include her step-son, James (Hilde) McAllister of Webster Groves, Mo.; sister, Hilda Nivala of Cromwell; Special great-nephew, E. Wesley (Ann) Heikkila of Wright; cousin, Arnold (Doris) Moody of Winchester, Calif.; two step-grandsons, Clarke and Scott (Susan) McAllister and four step-great grandchildren.

VISITATION: 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. Funeral Service Thursday, June 25, 2009 in Bell Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Wright, Minn. Arrangements by Bell Brothers Funeral Home. 601 N. 56th Ave. West.
