Never Forget Never Give Up
Assocation sells green wristbands in support of senior Josh Sorvik and in memory of Luke HyldenBy: Eva Reistad, East High School
Never Forget. Never give up. Two quotes that apply perfectly to East after the few tragic events of this year, are now being worn as an accessory of inspiration. Senior Josh Sorvik, and deceased senior Luke Hylden are in students hearts as they display the green wristbands that are being sold to fund hopeful causes. Junior Zach Udeson came up with idea for the bracelets while thinking of ideas to raise money.
“I wanted to find something that could honor the both of them,” said Zach. Zach picked the color green for the bands because it symbolizes hope.
The wristbands are two dollars each; half of the money goes to help Josh Sorvik’s medical expenses, and the other half towards substance abuse programs.
Not only students, but parents and staff in the East community have bought almost all of the original 500 bracelets the Association ordered. The enthusiasm towards the idea has resulted in another 500 being ordered for not only East students and community members, but for people from other schools who have expressed interest in supporting the causes.
