Two arrested in brutal killing of 93-year-old Sawyer County woman

One of the suspects discussed the murder with an acquaintance, police said.

RADISSON, Wis. - Authorities have arrested two people in connection with the murder of a woman in her Radisson home.

Sawyer County Chief Deputy Tim Zeigle said a 27-year-old man from Radisson was arrested this afternoon in Sarona, Wis., and a 15-year-old Radisson boy was arrested this evening in his hometown.

A health care worker found Irena Roszak, 93, dead in her home Tuesday morning. An autopsy found the cause of death to be homicide.

Zeigle called it a "brutal murder." He said a break in the case came when authorities received information from an acquaintance of the suspect that he had discussed participating in the murder.

Earlier today, Sawyer County Sheriff James Meier said Roszak had been dead at least 12 hours by the time her body was discovered. Meier said she apparently put up a fight against her attacker.
