Frances K. Ink, 100

Frances K. Ink, 100, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., formerly of Duluth, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at her home with her daughter and family at her side.

She was born June 24, 1908, in Duluth, to Andrew and Rose Ring. She was one of 10 children. She married Lewis Ink.

Fran worked as a secretary for St. Louis County’s superintendent of schools. She was an active volunteer for the Girl Scouts, YWCA, Flower Garden Society, St. Luke’s Women’s Institute, a member of PEO, matron of honor in Eastern Star and also taught Sunday school at Lakeside Presbyterian Church.

She has inspired her children and grandchildren and, according to her family, is “the most kind and loving person you could ever hope to meet!”

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis, her parents and all siblings.

Fran is survived by her son, Steven (Laima) Ink; daughters Carol Marshall and Sue Waide; grandchildren Robert and Jeanette Marshall, David and Deena Marshall, Peter and Peggy Marshall, Wendy and Mark Robinson and Andreas and Stefan Ink; great-grandchildren Michael and Nicole Marshall, Jason and Chrissy Marshall, Sara and Emily Marshall and Maddy Blom, Monika and Giselle Marshall, Jenni and Dustin Draper, Trisha Marshall and Jacqueline and Max Robinson — with two on the way.

If so desired, memorials may be made to the Duluth Girl Scout Camp Rondelay Scholarship Fund, St. Luke’s Foundation Volunteer Guild, Duluth Garden Flower Society, Benedictine Health Center or the Arkansas Hospice.

There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 10, in Glen Avon Presbyterian Church, with interment in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Anna Marie Amundson, 99, died at Chris Jensen Nursing Home Wednesday, April 29, 2009. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will take place at Harris Cemetery in Grand Rapids. Arrangements handled by Cremation Society of Minnesota, 624-5200.

Ronald Alvin Anderson, 74

Ronald Alvin Anderson, 74, of Duluth, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospice of Parkinson’s disease. Per Ronald’s wishes, there will be no service. A celebration of life with the family will follow at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Cremation Society of Minnesota, 624-5200.

Sophie V. (Kucza) Bentley, 97, of Duluth, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Viewcrest Health Center. Funeral services were held at Dougherty Funeral Home, with interment in Sunrise Memorial Park.

Jennifer S. Carlson, 36, of Duluth, died Monday, April 27, 2009, at Solvay Hospice House. Funeral services were Friday at Dougherty Funeral Home with interment at Forest Hill Cemetery.
