No Cracking Up

Mr. Ford challenges juniors to the annual phyisics Egg Drop.

By: Hans Sandholm, East High School

Physics students every are required to build a number of contraptions to help grasp complicated concepts. One of the favorites: an egg protector.

The challenge is to prevent an egg, dropped from a two story high window onto a conrete sidewalk, from cracking. The egg protector must fit within the dimensions of a 6x6x6 inch box. Another tricky resctriction for students to work around are the specific products and materials banned from being used. The egg droppers were tested the last week in April and met their yolky fate.
