Trial set for Minnesota teen charged in bank robbery

Anthony DiLoreto of Minnetonka, Minn., is charged in Burnett County Circuit Court with robbery of a financial institution and possession of a short-barrel rifle.

SIREN, Wis. — A trial has been set for a 19-year-old college basketball prospect from Minnesota accused of robbing a northern Wisconsin bank last summer.

Anthony DiLoreto of Minnetonka, Minn., is charged in Burnett County Circuit Court with robbery of a financial institution and possession of a short-barrel rifle.

Online court records say that during a hearing Friday, a judge set a three-day trial to start Sept. 2.

Diloreto is accused of serving as the getaway driver in the August robbery of the Bremer Bank in Danbury. A juvenile was also arrested.

DiLoreto was the starting center and averaged eight points per game for Hopkins, Minnesota, High School, the top-ranked team in Class 5A for much of last season. He earned a scholarship to Cal Poly in California but never enrolled after his arrest.
