Gooseberry Falls State Park is expansive, to say the least.
Encompassing five waterfalls and approximately 18 miles of hiking trails, it’s pretty safe to say that no one has the same favorite spot.
To combat neglecting too many “favorite spots” at the popular North Shore destination, we’ve decided to break up the park into a number of “Discover Duluth” segments.
This segment covers the mandatory Falls View Loop (with views of the Lower and Middle Falls) and the oft-overlooked Gitchi Gummi Trail, which rises high over the northern banks of Gooseberry River and culminates with awe-inspiring views of majestic Lake Superior.
“Discover Duluth” is an ongoing photo essay series by Matthew R. Perrine that highlights points of interest around the region.
