Jesse Colter Luke, 31, started his journey to Heaven on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 at 8:37 p.m. in Ann Arbor, Mich.

He was born in Hibbing, Minn., on Oct. 22, 1977 and grew up in Cloquet, Minn., then Ypsilanti/Dexter, Mich., area, then attended Michigan Technological University where he met his wife, Jessica and they lived in various areas in the U.P. of Michigan, mostly in Baraga, and than ended up in Marquette, there he found a job he loved as a web and print designer for The Porcupine Press.

Words cannot describe how wonderful Jesse was. He was a very loving husband and daddy. Jesse was a strong person, yet was gentle and kind. He was extremely courageous and was a true warrior during his battle with cancer. Jesse loved computers, gaming, reading, camping, BBQs, fishing, and he was a very good cook. He loved taking his children to parks and reading to them at bed time. He was very intelligent, but never boastful.

He is survived by his wife, Jessica Ann Luke and three children, Jacob Xander, four, Jace Colter, two, and Josilyn Rose, nine months; his mother, Lynn Marie Olson (Brendan Casey) of Ann Arbor, Mich.; his father, Thomas Luke (Adri Luke) of Cloquet, Minn.; his sister, Jasmine Luke of Ypsilanti, Mich.; grandpa Ray Luke (Millie Luke) of Cloquet, Minn.; great grandmother, Hazel Kelley of Cloquet, Minn.; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

MEMORIAL GATHERING: 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009 in the Nie Family Funeral Home at the Carpenter Road Chapel 2400 Carpenter Road Ann Arbor, MI 48108. Following, there will be food and music to celebrate Jesse at the Cavern Club 210 S.
