CMSgt. Mark A. Whitely, 67, died at home Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007 in Duluth. Mark married Judy Ann Shaw in Feb. 1962; together they raised three children in Duluth. He was a proud member of the MN Air National Guard 148th Fighter Wing. Mark served 36 years 11 months from Feb 1958 to Dec 1994, earning many distinguished awards and much recognition. In his retirement, Mark worked for the Duluth News Tribune for a number of years and enjoyed his work and colleagues at the Hermantown distribution center. He loved nature, gardening, and hiking up the shore. Mark was a devoted father and husband, and loved spending time with his family. He will be missed deeply by his immediate family, his Guard family, and all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents Dorothy and Wesley Whitely. Mark is survived by his wife Judy Ann; daughter Kelly (Mike) Palmer of London, England, two sons Rick, Montrose, Minn., and Darin, Minneapolis; two sisters, Barbara and Arden, brother Bill; extended family and many military friends.
