YourSports: Twin Ports Rampage win state tournament, finish runner-up at nationals

The Twin Ports Rampage 12U fast-pitch softball team won the Minnesota Amateur Softball Association Class A state championship July 12-13 in Shakopee and followed it with a runner-up finish at the North American Fastpitch Association Northern National Championship July 17-20 in Eagan, Minn.

At the Minnesota ASA tournament, the Rampage beat Champlin Park 3-1, Mankato 6-0, Forest Lake 6-1 and Bloomington 11-0 to get to the finals of the double elimination tournament. Shakopee defeated the Rampage 3-2 to send the tournament to a final game, but the team rallied with a 6-1 win to take the tournament title.

The Rampage started off with an 8-0 shutout of the South Dakota Renegades at the NAFA tournament, but lost to Stillwater 4-2. The team won four straight games to earn a rematch against Stillwater in the tournament championship, but lost again, this time 15-2.
