Woman found unconscious in Duluth's Chester Creek gorge

Duluth firefighters removed an unconscious woman from the Chester Creek gorge Thursday evening, but it's not clear what happened to her.

Assistant Fire Chief Richard Mattson said firefighters received a call for an "unknown medical" issue on the Chester Creek trail below Eighth Street at 5:38 p.m. Thursday. Firefighters initially were unable to locate the victim. Eventually, they found an unconscious woman alongside the creek and took her on a body board to a waiting Gold Cross ambulance.

Mattson said firefighters didn't know what had happened to the woman and didn't have her name. "She was unable to talk with us," he said.
