Willmar edges Huskies
Willmar rode a four-run fifth inning to a 6-4 victory over Duluth in a Northwoods League game in front of 676 fans at Wade Stadium on Monday night.
Hutton Moyer drove in two runs with a single and Nick Rivera did the same with a double to highlight the Stingers’ decisive fifth frame, which allowed the visitors to pull ahead 5-4, a lead they never relinquished.
The Huskies scored three times in the second inning and once more in the fourth, but three Willmar relief pitchers kept them at bay the rest of the way. Brantley Claunch threw three innings of one-run ball to earn the pitching win.
Duluth had just six hits.
