Weronika Ptasnik, 89, Duluth, died April 6, 2014 at the Franciscan Health Center.
She was born in Meczennice, Poland, on Jan. 4, 1925 to Jan and Zofie Orlowski.
She married Adam Ptasnik in Germany in 1948 and settled in Duluth in 1951. She had worked at Jeno's, Inc., for many years. Weronika enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, and traveling with her family. She also enjoyed time with her friends, many of whom came over to America around the same time.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Adam in 1997; two brothers and three sisters.
Weronika is survived by her sons Henry (Nancy), Duluth, John, San Mateo, Calif.; daughter Kathy (Harvey Wong) Ptasnik, San Mateo, Calif.; brother Kajik Orlowski, Poland; grandchildren Elizabeth (Andrew) Poll, Amy (Michael) Konczak, Abigail Ptasnik and Alex and Adam Ptasnik-Wong and great-grandchildren Thomas and Greta Poll and Greyson Konczak.
The family would like to thank the Essentia Home Hospice team, the staff at Solvay Hospice House and the staff at Franciscan Health Center for the compassionate care they gave her.
