Wayne Patrick Newgren, 73, of Duluth, passed away at his home on July 11, 2014.

Wayne was born in Duluth on June 11, 1941 to Harold and Katherine (Pollock) Newgren.

He graduated from Denfeld High School and as a young man worked in the woods as a logger. Later he worked for U.S. Steel and sailed the Great Lakes aboard the Cason J. Calloway. He then became a truck driver and owned his own truck for a time before working for Halvor Lines and Barco Inc. For a short while he worked as a dispatcher for Halvor Lines. Once again he purchased his own truck and formed his own company, Newayne Transport, and retired after many successful years.

Waynes pride and joy were his daughter and granddaughters; after that came his cars, snowmobiles and motorcycles.

He was a longtime member of MSRA, Late Great Chevy Club and the Wednesday Nighters. Wayne was a man of his word with a rock solid reputation. He was always there for his friends and offered words of wisdom whether it was received willingly or not.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Thomas and Richard.
