Warren was born March 31, 1927, in Braham, Minn., to Joseph and Evelyn (Norton) King. He graduated from Austin (Minn.) High School in 1944. Warren served in the U.S. Coast Guard until the end of World War II, making port in the Philippines several times.

Warren married Doris E. Duffy Aug. 7, 1948, in Austin, where they lived and had four children. He worked at his father's gas station, the Northern Pacific Railroad, and then for Eddy Paper Co., which later became Weyerhaeuser Container Corporation. In 1961 he transferred to Cloquet to open a new Weyerhaeuser plant, and in 1980 was transferred to the White Bear Lake, Minn., plant. They lived in Stillwater, Minn., from 1980 until Warren retired from Weyerhaeuser in 1986. They then moved to Carlton but spent winters in California and Arizona from 1986-2000. They lost their home of 27 years in the flood of 2012 and then moved into the Pineview Apartments in Carlton.

Warren loved game shows, games of chance, cars, motorcycling, bicycling, CB radio, exploring back roads, and visiting his children and grandchildren. The couple enjoyed many vacations in the United States, sometimes on motorcycle, and also made trips to Hawaii and Japan.

Doris, his wife of almost 65 years, preceded Warren in death on April 23, 2013.

Warren is survived by his children, Sandra (Ned Street) King of California, Gary King of Minnesota, Laurel (Tomoko Iwai) King of Hawaii, and Julia (John) Graham of Minnesota; grandchildren David, Rachel and Katie Graham, all of Minnesota, Matthew Kingstreet of California, and Kai and Riku Iwai-King of Hawaii; step- grandchildren Jennifer, Jessica and Joshua Voeltz, all of Minnesota; three great-grandchildren; and his brother, David (Carol) King, of Austin.
