USS Duluth's massive anchor will be placed on Lakewalk

The massive anchor of a U.S. Navy ship named after the city of Duluth will be delivered to its new home on the Lakewalk on Tuesday.

The USS Duluth was deployed to the South China Sea in 1967 and to the evacuation of Saigon in 1975 during its years of service. Barriers will be placed along the Lakewalk from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., near Endion Station to the Vietnam War Memorial.

Residents won’t be permitted to use a section of the Lakewalk during that time. People should use Superior Street as a replacement route to access other sections of the Lakewalk.
