UMD, UWS hold spring commencement ceremonies

More than 2,700 Twin Ports college students were eligible to receive degrees on Saturday as the University of Minnesota Duluth and the University of Wisconsin-Superior held their spring commencement ceremonies.

UMD held its two ceremonies at Amsoil Arena. The university reported that 2,353 students are graduating this year -- 2,043 with bachelor's degrees, 300 with master's degrees and 10 with doctoral degrees.

UWS is graduating 356 students this spring -- 331 with undergraduate degrees and 25 with graduate degrees. Its commencement ceremony was held in the Marcovich Wellness Center.
