Two still hospitalized after Sunday crashes
Of the two people hospitalized after two rollover crashes Sunday, one is seeing improvement and the other remains in serious condition.
Adam Roen, 32, of Eveleth was listed in serious condition Monday at St. Luke’s hospital in Duluth. Roen was injured Sunday after stopping to offer assistance at the scene of a rolled vehicle on Interstate 35 in Carlton County.
While on the scene, Roen was struck by another pickup that rolled over.
A 4-year-old boy, Cameron Moroney, sustained serious injuries during the initial rollover that drew Roen’s attention. Moroney was a passenger in a pickup driven by Kathleen Haapala, 55, of White Bear Lake, Minn. Moroney was listed in fair condition Monday morning at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. The freeway was icy at the time of the crashes, the Patrol said.
