Two injured in ATV crash near Cook

Two people were injured, one critically, in an all-terrain vehicle crash west of Cook on Friday evening.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office reported that Terry Treloar, 66, of Buhl was operating a side-by-side ATV near County Highway 5, about 15 miles west of Cook, just before 6:30 p.m. with his wife, Joann, as a passenger. Both were injured when the ATV rolled over in a field.

The Treloars were transported by ambulance to Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing; Joann Treloar was later airlifted to Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth in critical condition, the Sheriff’s Office reported. By early Saturday afternoon, Joann Treloar’s condition had been upgraded to stable condition at Essentia.

Terry Treloar suffered non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, the Sheriff’s Office reported. The incident remains under investigation.
