Twins edge Rays in 12 innings
TAMPA — Chris Colabello singled home a pair of runs in the top of the 12th inning and belted a two-run homer as the Minnesota Twins outlasted Tampa Bay 6-4 on Wednesday.
Joe Mauer reached on an infield single to lead off the 12th and moved to third on Trevor Plouffe’s double before both scored on Colabello’s base hit up the middle. Former Ray Sam Fuld and Chris Herrmann also recorded two hits, Casey Fien (3-0) pitched 2⅓ hitless innings and Glen Perkins notched his fourth save with a perfect 12th.
Desmond Jennings collected three hits, stole two bases and scored twice while Matt Joyce knocked in two runs for the Rays, who saw their seven-game winning streak against the Twins at home come to an end.
