Thursday's weather for Duluth and the Northland: Showers, storms likely later
TODAY: A low-pressure system is moving closer from the southwest and will bring a northeast wind that will keep most of the moisture away until late afternoon/evening. Expect cloudy skies with highs near 70. We will have a 70 percent chance of showers and storms in the latter half of the day as a warm front pushes closer.
FRIDAY: The low will move east toward Ohio, leaving us between systems. A ridge will develop, inhibiting storm development, but not enough to say the weather will be dry. Expect a 30 percent chance of scattered afternoon storms. Skies will be partly cloudy with lows in the upper 50s and highs near 72.
SATURDAY: Expect mostly cloudy skies and a 30 percent chance of scattered storms as the ridge in the jet stream over the region remains. Lows will be in the low 60s and highs near 74.
SUNDAY: We will have a low-pressure system coming from Colorado, increasing our chances of rain Saturday night into Sunday to about 50 percent, with mostly cloudy to cloudy skies and lows in the mid-50s and highs in the mid-70s.
