Teen dies while kayaking on lake in central Minnesota
ALEXANDRIA, Minn. -- A 15-year-old boy died in a weekend kayaking accident in central Minnesota.
Brennon David Johnson of Montevideo was found dead in Lobster Lake after being reported missing, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reported. Johnson was wearing a lifejacket and was still in the kayak, and may have been unable to get out of it after it capsized, according to deputies who responded to the scene.
The Douglas County medical examiner determined the death to be an accidental drowning.
Johnson went kayaking about 12:30 p.m. and had not returned when the sheriff’s office was called shortly before 5 p.m. He was found shortly before 6 p.m. on the northwest side of the lake by boaters who had joined the search.
Lobster Lake is just south of Interstate 94 about 8 miles west of Alexandria.
