Tears flow on both sides of payday loan debate

ST. PAUL — Tears flowed freely Wednesday as senators debated what normally is a rather dry issue: loans.

Some people cried because it appeared lawmakers wanted to end short-term “payday loans.” Others cried because they blamed their loans for financial problems.
